I was meant to be filming today but the job was cancelled earlier in the week. Today dawned clear and still – perfect for paramotoring. Much as I love filming, I would much prefer a day spent up in the air than a day looking through a viewfinder! After receiving a text from Michel saying that conditions were good on the Downs, I re-loaded the car with my flying kit and drove the two hours down to Devils Dyke outside Brighton. As I arrived, John Caston and a friend were about to take off to fly back to Ipswich and we later heard they made it back in just over 3 hours.
My new wing was waiting for me with Michel and I couldn’t wait to try it out. I took my old wing up for a quick half hour flight to check the conditions then did some ground handling with the new one to familiarise myself with the differences. Sadly the wind picked up before I was ready to take off, so the maiden flight will have to wait for another time. I returned to London slightly sunburnt but happy to have had at least a short flight. The photo is of Michel test flying my new wing and the short video clip is of him flying past on his wing.
